The 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their orientation camp in the South-East have been released.

The confirmation was contained in a statement signed by Adeola Oloko, the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, in the statement, said he received the confirmation from the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, during a telephone conversation at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The victims were abducted on October 1 while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to NYSC orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The two buses conveying the prospective corps members came under attack near Umunoha in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

While details of the circumstances surrounding their release yet to emerge, it was, however, gathered that following their release, the  victims were taken to the Department of State Services Hospital in Owerri for medical attention.

The release of the prospective corps members comes after days of uncertainty and concern over their safety following their abduction while on their way to the NYSC orientation camp.
