The ancient town of Imeko in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area in Ogun State is set to witness a major traditional celebration as the Onimeko of Imekoland, Oba Benjamin Alabi Olanite, prepares to confer chieftaincy titles on Chief Musiliu Ayoola and his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Sherifat Ayoola.

Chief Musiliu Ayoola, Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Protocol Matters, will be installed as the Aremo of Imeko Kingdom, while his wife will assume the title of Yeye Aremo of Imeko Kingdom.

The conferment is part of activities lined up for the 2026 Agbinirekoti Day celebration in Imekoland.

According to a statement by Chief Ayoola, the traditional recognition will attract prominent personalities, government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and cultural enthusiasts from across Ketu land and beyond.

The main chieftaincy installation ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, following other activities marking the annual cultural celebration.

Ayoola said the conferment was a significant honour for his family, adding that the event would also provide an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the people of Imekoland.

He said this year's Agbinirekoti Day would feature cultural displays by various groups, bringing together sons and daughters of Imekoland to celebrate their common heritage and strengthen bonds of unity.

The event, he added, would also feature the unveiling of community development projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents and accelerating development across the kingdom.

Ayoola expressed optimism that the celebration would further promote peace, unity and cooperation among the people, while encouraging collective efforts towards the sustainable development of Imekoland.

He urged sons and daughters of the kingdom, friends of Imeko and lovers of Yoruba culture and tradition to participate actively in the celebration.

The annual Agbinirekoti Day has continued to serve as a major platform for the people of Imekoland to preserve their cultural identity, honour distinguished members of the community and mobilise support for grassroots development.
