2027: Renewed Hope Ambassadors Inaugurate Coordinators, Mobilise Christian Leaders for Tinubu, Hamzat
By Our Reporter
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, through its Lagos State Directorate of Christian Affairs, has intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Elections with the inauguration of coordinators across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The mobilisation exercise was unveiled at a prayer programme organised for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
The initiative brought Christian leaders and members of the organisation together as part of efforts to deepen community engagement and encourage greater participation in the political process ahead of the elections.
Speaking at the gathering, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Lagos State, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, said political participation should not be left to a select few, stressing that leadership must ultimately be measured by its impact on the welfare of citizens.
Sonayon-James urged Christian leaders to become more involved in governance and political affairs, citing the biblical principle that people rejoice when righteous individuals occupy positions of authority.
She described Hamzat as a man of integrity and a community-oriented leader, while commending members of the Christian community for identifying with the mobilisation initiative.
The APC deputy governorship candidate also appealed to parents to encourage young people to participate actively in the political process, saying their involvement was necessary in shaping the future of the country and the state.
She further urged young Nigerians to support efforts to address issues affecting them, noting that the Federal Government under Tinubu had responded to some of the concerns raised by the youth.
Sonayon-James assured residents that the administration being proposed would work for the benefit of all, urging voters to support policies and programmes designed to improve the lives of citizens.
Also speaking, the Lagos State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and Chief of Staff (COS) to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, charged the newly inaugurated coordinators to make community engagement the foundation of their activities.
Ayinde said leadership was fundamentally about service, explaining that the prayer programme was designed not only to seek divine guidance for the nation's leaders but also to prepare members of the organisation for their responsibilities within their communities.
He urged the coordinators to understand the peculiar needs of their respective communities, bring people together and help bridge existing divisions.
According to him, the gathering represented both a spiritual and mobilisation exercise, with the coordinators expected to take the message of the Renewed Hope agenda to churches and communities across Lagos.
Ayinde further encouraged Christian leaders to remain engaged in the political process, stressing that effective grassroots participation was essential to meaningful community development.
In his remarks, the Director of the Directorate of Christian Affairs, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rev. Dr. Sam Ogedengbe, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the leadership of the organisation and other political leaders for their support.
Ogedengbe said the support had enabled the directorate to expand its activities among Christian communities across Lagos through prayer walks, outreaches and sensitisation programmes in churches and communities.
He said the inauguration of grassroots coordinators, whom he described as “foot soldiers,” would give the directorate a stronger presence at the community level and enable it to communicate its message directly to residents.
Ogedengbe said the directorate was backing Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, pointing to policies and programmes of the administration such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange-rate reforms, student loans, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives, local government autonomy and infrastructure development.
He maintained that the policies represented components of what the administration describes as the Renewed Hope agenda, while urging Christians and other Nigerians to continue praying and contributing to national development.
On Lagos State, Ogedengbe said the directorate was also supporting Hamzat's governorship ambition, describing him as a leader capable, in his view, of sustaining the state's development.
He appealed for logistical support, particularly campaign vehicles, to strengthen the activities of the Directorate of Christian Affairs across the state.
Ogedengbe said that where it was not possible to provide vehicles for all 20 local governments, at least three vehicles should be allocated to each senatorial district.
He added that the directorate would continue its engagement with churches and communities as part of its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
