2027: We Didn’t Collect Money To Endorse Hamzat For Lagos Guber Race - Group

By Our Reporter

The Tinubu AMBO Support Group has debunked rumour making the rounds that it collected a whooping sum of N100 million to endorse the candidature of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos for 2027 General Elections.

The group dismissed the rumour in a statement signed by its Head, Public Affairs, Mr. Wale Balogun, copy of which was made available to newsmen on Sunday, saying that their endorsement was not financially induced.

The Tinubu AMBO Support Group unequivocally described the allegation as false, baseless, and entirely unfounded, saying that at no time did it receive "any money from Hon. Faleke or from Dr. Obafemi Kadir Hamzat in exchange for political support."

‘’Our attention has been drawn to a rumour alleging that Dr. Seyi Bamgbade, Director General of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, collected the sum of ₦100 million through Hon. James Abiodun Faleke to declare support for Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.

‘’We wish to state clearly and unequivocally that this allegation is false, baseless, and entirely unfounded. At no time did Dr. Seyi Bamgbade, a tireless grassroots mobiliser received any money from Hon. Faleke or from Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat in exchange for political support.

‘"For the record, Dr. Bamgbade has consistently demonstrated loyalty and commitment within the progressive family. As Director General of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, he stood firmly with former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode from his emergence in 2015 and throughout efforts toward his second-term campaign, with his team playing a pioneering role," Balogun said.

Balogun added that former Governor Ambode officially conveyed his congratulations to the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hamzat on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the ruling APC in the state for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

"This development further underscores the unity and alignment within the progressive fold," he said.

Speaking further, Balogun affirmed that the Director General of the Tinubu AMBO Support Group, Dr. Bamgbade remained guided by the principle of party supremacy as a committed progressive who believes strongly in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as ongoing mobilisation toward his re-election in 2027.

"Once the party takes a decision, alignment becomes imperative in the collective interest of unity, stability, and progress,’" he said.

He urged the general public and party faithful to disregard the misleading rumour, saying it was clearly designed to distract and sow division.

"We remain focused, disciplined, and committed to the progressive ideals of our great party as we work towards victory in all forthcoming general elections," he concluded.
