President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to pay a 2-day official visit to Lagos State on Wednesday and Thursday, where he is expected to commission numerous projects completed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The projects listed for commissioning include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, which is expected to ease traffic congestion across the metropolis, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, a newly completed Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle comprises 36 public schools, among others.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, made this known at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Center, Alausa, Ikeja, which held on Monday, saying that Lagos State was ready to welcome Mr. President, as it looked forward to showcasing the strides it had made and also to reaffirmed the state commitment to excellence in governance and service delivery.
Omotoso explained that the visit is not only significant for Lagos State but also for the entire nation, saying that it underscores the continued commitment of government at all levels to infrastructural development, economic growth, and improved quality of life of the citizens.
The commissioner said President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate key infrastructure projects executed by the Sanwo-Olu/Obafemi Hamzat administration, which he noted reflected the state government's commitment to development and improved living standards.
"Among the projects slated for inauguration is the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, which is expected to ease traffic congestion across the metropolis.
"Also scheduled for commissioning are the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, which is expected to transform our land records, among other functions, and a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President. A newly completed school complex will also be inaugurated. There is, also, the Mid- level Agro- Produce Hub, Abijo, Ibeju Lekki, Lekki," Omotoso said.
The commissioner added that the school to be commissioned, named Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle comprises 36 public schools, 31 of which are secondary schools and five primary schools, is situated in the densely populated Ajegunle in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, on an estimated 11.73 hectares of land.
Omotosho said now, the entire school complex has just experienced a major redevelopment and transformation in terms of modern infrastructure after 42 years of its establishment during the administration of the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande.
The commissioner explained that an additional 13 classroom blocks were constructed, while 24 school buildings were equally erected to reduce the student-to-classroom ratio from 70:1 to 50:1 and also to enhance teaching and learning.
"The Tolu Schools Complex can now be referred to as an all-inclusive school where no child will be left behind, with the two newly constructed buildings for People Living with Disability (PLD), which consist of vertical lift facilities to aid movement from the ground floor to the last floor," he said.
Speaking further, Omotoso assured that the state government had put adequate measure in place to reduce traffic, while the president visits.
Shedding more light on control of traffic, the State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, represented by the General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the Authority would deploy 500 personnel to augment those on ground to maintain traffic.
Osiyemi, however, enjoined Lagosians to plan their movement when the president is visiting the state.
