Ahead of the Somolu Day 2026 scheduled to hold on1st October, 2026, the planning committee for the exercise has urged on the need for unwavering commitment and active participation from all its members, saying they should take ownership of any assigned responsibilities to guarantee a successful celebration.
The committee gave this charge as part of its 5-resolution, following conclusion of its inaugural meeting held at Shoprite Lounge at Ajose Street, Somolu, Lagos and chaired by the Acting Coordinator, Hon. Wale Oseni.
In attendance at the party were Hon. Wale oseni, Com Ibrahim Atiku, Mr Wellington Osas, Prince Samson O
Adetunji, Lady Abiola Simple, Lady Shola Shoprite, Mr Fatai Figo and Barr Akeem Ijadu.
This was just as members agreed that starting early will help address logistics, publicity, sponsorship and programme content effectively, while they resolved to work as a united team with full dedication toward delivering a memorable Somolu Day 2026, come October 1st, 2026.
The communique read:
"The meeting was convened to fast-track arrangements and ensure smooth planning of the event.
"A major point of discussion was the need for unwavering commitment and active participation from all planning committee members. Members were encouraged to take ownership of any assigned responsibilities to guarantee a successful celebration.
"Members agreed that starting early will help address logistics, publicity, sponsorship and programme content effectively.
"Additional planning details and sub-commitment assignments were briefly touched on and are to be expanded in subsequent meetings.
"The committee resolved to work as a united team with full dedication toward delivering a memorable Somolu Day 2026 on 1st October, 2026.
"The meeting ended with a charge to all members present to remain committed.
The next meeting agreed to come up *online* at Day and Time, subject to the general house debate and ratification on the platform."
