The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has described the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade 1, as one of the beacons of hope and unity for the Yoruba people.
Oba Owoade 1 was crowned the 46th Alaafin of Oyo on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at a coronation ceremony which took place at Oliveth Baptist High School, Oyo, following the completion of his traditional rites and the receipt of his staff of office on January 13, 2025.
Iba Adams said this while congratulating His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owoade on the occasion of his first year coronation anniversary, noting that the milestone marked a significant year of dedicated leadership, cultural preservation, and the promotion of Yoruba heritage.
The Yoruba generalissimo, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Olawunmi Ojo, on Tuesday, emphasized that Alaafin's leadership continues to inspire and strengthen the cultural heritage of the Yoruba, fostering pride and solidarity among the people.
"I commend the Alaafin for his unwavering dedication to unity, cultural revitalisation, and community development. His leadership continues to strengthen the foundations of our rich traditions and values," he said.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the security, peace, and prosperity of the South-West region and the entire nation under Alaafin's esteemed leadership.
Iba Adams expressed optimism that together, they would uphold the rich traditions and values that defined the Yoruba people.
The Yoruba generalissimo wished the Alaafin a good reign on the throne of his forebears, blessed with wisdom, good health, sound mind and continued success.
