The Southwest Youth Movement, a vibrant coalition of political support groups across Nigeria, has expressed strong admiration and approval for the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as the Governorship Candidate of Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 General Elections, describing his selection as a well-deserved and strategic decision that reflects competence, capacity, and leadership excellence.

The group, in a statement issued by its Coordinator, Segun Tinubu, copy of which was made available to newsmen on Tuesday, noted that Yayi represents a new wave of purposeful leadership, deeply rooted in grassroots connection and progressive ideals.

According to the group, Yayi’s track record of service, accessibility, and commitment to the people clearly distinguishes him as a "round peg in a round hole," perfectly suited for the responsibility entrusted to him.

The Movement further extended its commendation to former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, praising his impactful tenure and unwavering dedication to good governance.

The group emphasized that Ambode’s legacy of infrastructural development, economic reforms, and people-oriented policies continues to resonate with the masses, making a strong case for his re-election.

Describing both leaders as exemplary figures in Nigeria’s political landscape, the Southwest Youth Movement highlighted their shared values of integrity, diligence, and visionary leadership.

"Leaders like Yayi and Ambode embody the true essence of service. They are tested, trusted, and proven to deliver on their mandates," the statement read.

The Movement also called on youths across the Southwest and beyond to remain steadfast, united, and actively engaged in the democratic process, urging them to rally support for leaders who had consistently demonstrated capacity and sincerity of purpose.

The group reaffirmed its unwavering support for Yayi’s continued rise and strongly advocated for the re-election of Akinwunmi Ambode, expressing confidence that their leadership would further drive development, unity, and prosperity across the region and Nigeria at large.

The youths further urged all stakeholders to prioritize competence over sentiment, emphasizing that the future of the nation lies in the hands of capable and visionary leaders.
